What logistics operators need from a project tool

Day to day movement is already handled by a TMS or a WMS. What is usually not handled is everything around it: onboarding a new customer from contract to first load, opening or closing a depot, rolling out scanners or a system upgrade across twenty sites, and getting compliance work done before the deadline. That work crosses several locations and several functions, and it tends to be tracked by email and a phone call. Orangescrum is the project layer for it. It is not a telematics, routing, or transport execution system.

The problem

Why network projects drift

Onboarding is different every time
The go live checklist is remembered rather than written, so something is always missed at the first pickup and the customer notices.
A template per onboarding type, used every time.
Rollouts across sites lose track
Twenty depots, the same twenty tasks, and no single view of which site is behind until someone rings round.
A programme with one project per site.
Depot teams are not in the tool
Per seat pricing means site staff hear about the plan second hand, and update it by replying to an email.
Unlimited users with access scoped per depot.
Compliance deadlines creep up
License renewals, audits, and driver training dates sit in one person's calendar, and go with them on holiday.
Milestones and watchers on shared work items.
What matters here

One view across sites and customers

  • Customer onboarding

Each new account as a project from contract to first load, running the same proven steps every time.

  • Multi site rollouts

A programme grouping one project per depot, so which sites are behind is obvious without a ring round.

  • Compliance dates

Renewals, audits, and training tracked as milestones that more than one person can see.

  • Risk and evidence

A permanent activity history on every item, plus a risk register in the Self-Hosted edition.

  • Every site included

Unlimited users on every plan, with permissions scoped per depot or per customer account.

  • Progress in one place

Reporting across the network, so you are not asking each depot manager for a weekly update.

How it works

How a network project is run

1
Template the onboarding
One template covering contract to first load, so nothing depends on who is running it.
2
Group by site
A project per depot inside one programme, so the roll up happens without anyone assembling it.
3
Track the dates that bite
Compliance and renewal dates as milestones, visible to more than one person.
4
Report across the network
One view of what is done, what is late, and at which site.

Frequently asked questions

Transportation and logistics project management FAQ

Does Orangescrum do fleet tracking or route optimisation?

No. There is no telematics, no GPS tracking, no route planning or optimisation, and no transport execution. Those belong in your TMS and telematics platform. Orangescrum manages the project work around the operation: onboarding, depot projects, rollouts, and compliance programmes.

Can we track onboarding for every new customer?

Yes. Build the onboarding as a template covering contract, systems setup, rate loading, training, and first load, then create a project from it for each new account. Client access lets the customer see their own onboarding without seeing anything else.

Can we see progress across all our depots?

Yes. Create one project per depot and group them into a programme, which rolls progress and cost up so you can see which sites are behind without calling each one. Programme management is Premium in Cloud and included in the Self-Hosted edition.

Do depot and warehouse staff need a paid license?

No. Every plan includes unlimited users on a flat monthly price: Basic at 29 dollars, Pro at 69 dollars, and Premium at 349 dollars per month. Permissions are role based, so a site sees its own work and nothing about other customers.

Can we keep the data on our own servers?

Yes. The Self-Hosted edition installs on your own infrastructure or private cloud, which matters when a customer contract or a public sector tender sets conditions on where data is held. It also includes SSO, LDAP, and Active Directory sign in.

How do we stay on top of compliance deadlines?

Track each renewal, audit, or training deadline as a milestone on a shared project rather than in one person's diary. Add watchers so more than one person is notified, and the activity history gives you a record of what was done and when if an auditor asks.

Can we manage risks on a bid or a mobilisation?

Yes, in the Self-Hosted edition, which includes a risk register where risks are recorded, owned, scored, and tracked with mitigations. This is not available in the Cloud edition, so if a formal risk register is part of your tender responses, plan for self-hosted.

Can subcontract carriers see only their own work?

Yes. Access is role based per project, and client access gives an external party a scoped view of the work that concerns them. Because users are unlimited, there is no cost reason to leave a carrier or a partner outside the system.
