What is Orangescrum AI?

Orangescrum AI is an assistant that reads your own workspace and answers from it. It can summarise a project, list what is overdue, draft a full plan of epics, features, stories, and tasks, and propose changes such as creating a task, assigning it, or logging time. Every change is a proposal first. You see exactly what it wants to do and confirm it before anything is saved, and every tool call is written to an audit log.

The problem

Why most AI in project tools disappoints

It answers from the internet, not your data
A generic chatbot bolted on to a menu cannot tell you who is overloaded this week.
Answers grounded in your projects, tasks, and documents.
It changes things without asking
Automation that edits your board on its own is the fastest way to lose trust in a tool.
Every write is a proposal you confirm, and it can be undone.
Nobody can see what it did
If the AI touched a task last Tuesday, someone will eventually need to know.
An audit log of every AI tool call.
What it does

Six things it is actually good at

This list is what the product does today. Anything not on it is not claimed.
  • Ask your workspace

Chat about your own projects. What is assigned to me, what is overdue, how is this sprint going, what changed on this task.

  • Draft a plan

Describe an initiative and get a structured draft of epics, features, stories, tasks, and subtasks. You edit it, then choose to create it.

  • Propose changes you confirm

Create a task, assign it, change status or priority, add a comment, log time, or add work to a sprint. Nothing is written until you agree.

  • Search your documents

Upload documents into the workspace and the assistant can retrieve from them when it answers, instead of guessing.

  • Choose your model

Configure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or your own endpoint from the admin panel. Switching model does not mean switching tool.

  • Audit every call

Every AI tool call is recorded with its status and timing. Arguments are stored hashed rather than in the clear.

How it works

How a request actually runs

1
You ask
In plain English, in the chat panel inside Orangescrum.
2
It reads your data
The assistant pulls the relevant projects, tasks, and documents as context.
3
It proposes
For anything that changes data, you get a preview of exactly what it will do.
4
You confirm
Approve, edit, or reject. Approved changes are written and can be undone.

Orangescrum AI FAQ

What can Orangescrum AI actually do?

It answers questions about your own projects, drafts a plan of epics, features, stories, and tasks, retrieves from documents you have uploaded, and proposes changes such as creating a task, assigning it, changing status or priority, adding a comment, logging time, or adding work to a sprint. Every change is confirmed by a person before it is saved.

Does the AI change my data on its own?

No. Anything that writes is presented as a proposal with a preview of exactly what it will do. You approve, edit, or reject it, and approved changes can be undone. There is no autonomous mode.

Does it send me automatic daily or weekly reports?

No. There is no scheduler that generates summaries on its own. There are saved prompts you can click, such as standup prep or a draft status update, but you run them when you want them.

Does it predict delays or score risk?

Not with AI. There is no model that scores risk or predicts a date. The product does this the ordinary way instead: the Gantt chart shows the critical path, the risk register in the Self-Hosted edition scores and tracks risks, and Self-Hosted also has a probabilistic delivery forecast built on Monte Carlo simulation rather than on a language model.

Does it suggest who should do a task?

No. It can assign a task to a person you name, but it does not rank people by workload or past performance. Use the workload and resource views for that decision.

Is AI available in the self-hosted edition?

Not today. Orangescrum AI is part of the Cloud edition. The Self-Hosted edition covers the rest of the product, and includes modules that Cloud does not have, but the AI assistant is not one of them.

Which AI model does it use?

You choose. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models are configurable from the admin panel, and Enterprise plans can point it at their own endpoint so requests go somewhere you control.

Can I see what the AI did?

Yes. Every AI tool call is written to an audit log with its status and timing. Call arguments are stored as a hash rather than as readable text, so the record exists without keeping a second copy of your content.

Can I connect my own AI client instead?

Yes. Orangescrum ships an MCP server, so an MCP compatible client such as Claude can read and act on your workspace with your API key.

Does using AI cost extra?

AI is part of the Cloud plans, which are flat monthly prices with unlimited users: 29 dollars Basic, 69 dollars Pro, and 349 dollars Premium. Usage is visible in the admin panel so you can see what your team is running.
