# Seasons, Launches, and Store Openings _on One Plan_

Retail dates do not move. Get the range launch, the promotion, and the site release onto the same calendar before they collide.

## What retail and ecommerce teams have to coordinate

Retail runs to a calendar that will not shift. A season lands on a date, a promotion goes live on a date, and a store opens on a date, whatever else is late. The work behind those dates is spread across buying, merchandising, marketing, ecommerce, and store operations, and it usually lives in one shared spreadsheet that a single person keeps alive. Orangescrum puts that work on one plan with real owners and real dependencies. It is not an inventory or point of sale system, and it does not pretend to be.

The problem

## Why retail launches _go wrong_

The critical path is a spreadsheet tab

One person maintains the season plan, and it is out of date by the time it reaches the people doing the work.

✓ A live timeline built from the actual tasks.

Every launch is planned from scratch

The same dozen steps get rebuilt for every promotion and every store opening, and something different is forgotten each time.

✓ Templates that carry the steps forward.

Stores and suppliers sit outside

Per seat pricing means store managers and vendors get an email late, rather than seeing the plan as it changes.

✓ Unlimited users with access scoped by role.

Promotions collide with site releases

Marketing books a promotion for the week the ecommerce team is mid deployment, and nobody spots it until go live.

✓ One shared calendar across both teams.

What matters here

## Fixed dates, repeat plans, _and the field included_

- ### Season and range launches

Each launch as a project with the on sale date as a hard milestone that everything else works back from.

- ### One trading calendar

Campaigns, releases, and store events on a single calendar, so clashes show up weeks early rather than on the day.

- ### Dependencies that matter

Linked work on a timeline, so a late sample or a late asset shows you exactly what it pushes.

- ### Store openings and refits

A template per store format, so the hundredth opening runs the way the first one should have.

- ### Stores, agencies, and suppliers

Unlimited users on every plan, with role based access so each party sees only its own work.

- ### Status without a status call

Progress and workload reporting, so the weekly meeting is short and about exceptions.

How it works

## How a trading year _is planned_

1

Template the repeats

Build a template for a promotion, a range launch, and a store opening, and stop starting from blank.

2

Put the fixed dates in first

On sale dates and openings become milestones, and the work is planned backwards from them.

3

Link what depends on what

Samples, assets, and site work linked, so a slip anywhere is visible straight away.

4

Bring the field in

Store and supplier access with permissions scoped to their own tasks and nothing more.

Frequently asked questions

## Retail and ecommerce project management _FAQ_

### Does Orangescrum manage inventory or point of sale?

No. There is no inventory or stock control, no warehouse management, no point of sale, and no ecommerce storefront. Orangescrum manages the projects around retail: range launches, promotions, store openings, refits, and site releases. Your merchandising and trading systems stay where they are.

### Can we plan a whole season in it?

Yes. Put the on sale date in as a milestone, lay the work out on a Gantt timeline with dependencies, and plan backwards from the date rather than forwards from today. Templates mean the next season starts from the last one instead of a blank page.

### Can store managers use it without extra license cost?

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited users on a flat monthly price, so every store can be in the system. It runs in a browser on any device, so a store manager can update a refit task from a phone without a separate app license.

### Can we see campaigns and site releases side by side?

Yes. Both live on the same calendar, and programme management groups related projects so you can see a trading period across marketing, buying, and ecommerce in one view. Programme management is Premium in Cloud and included in Self-Hosted.

### How do we stop planning each promotion from scratch?

Use project templates. Build the promotion plan once with its tasks, owners, checklists, and dependencies, then create each new promotion from the template and change the dates. What tends to go wrong in retail is not the big decisions, it is the small recurring step that someone forgets, and a template is the fix for that.

### Can suppliers see only their part of a launch?

Yes. Permissions are role based and apply per project, and client access lets an external supplier or agency see their own work without seeing your commercial plan. There is no extra cost per external user.

### Does it connect to Shopify or our ERP?

There is no prebuilt Shopify or ERP connector. What we do have is a REST Partner API, so you can push and pull projects, tasks, and time programmatically if you want a link. If a specific out of the box integration is a requirement, check with us before you commit rather than after.

### Can the ecommerce development team work in the same tool?

Yes, and this is a real advantage of keeping one system. The web team can run sprints, defect tracking, and test cases in the same place the trading calendar lives, so a release date and a promotion date are visible to each other. Sprints are Pro and above in Cloud, and release management is Self-Hosted only.
