## What marketing teams are actually tracking

A marketing team is running several campaigns at once, each made of many small pieces of work with different owners and one date that will not move. The work is rarely blocked by effort. It is blocked by an approval, a missing asset, or a stakeholder who has not replied. What helps is a shared calendar, a clear owner on every piece, and a review stage that lives on the work rather than in an inbox. Orangescrum gives a marketing team that layer.

The problem

## Why campaigns _slip_

The calendar is a spreadsheet

Publish dates sit in one file and the actual work sits somewhere else, and they drift apart inside a week.

✓ A calendar built from the real work items.

Approvals vanish into email

A draft goes out for review and nobody can say whether it is waiting on legal, the client, or the founder.

✓ Review statuses and watchers, so the stage is visible.

Agencies and freelancers work outside

Per seat pricing pushes external people onto email, where they end up working from the wrong version.

✓ Unlimited users with access scoped by role.

Nobody knows what a campaign cost

Hours and agency spend are only added up once the campaign is over and the next budget is already set.

✓ Time logged against the campaign as it runs.

What matters here

## Built for work with _a date and an approver_

- ### Content calendar

Every piece of content on a shared calendar, built from the real tasks rather than a file someone maintains by hand.

- ### Campaign projects

One project per campaign, holding every channel, asset, and deadline that belongs to it.

- ### Review stages you can see

Custom statuses such as Drafting, In review, With legal, and Approved, so where a piece is stuck is obvious.

- ### Agencies and stakeholders

Unlimited users on every plan, with access scoped so an external partner only sees their own campaign.

- ### Where the time went

Log time against campaign work, so what a campaign actually costs is a number rather than a guess.

- ### Reporting

Progress, workload, and time by campaign, channel, or owner, without rebuilding a spreadsheet each month.

How it works

## How a campaign _is run_

1

Set up the campaign

One project per campaign, with the go live date as a milestone everything works back from.

2

Fill the calendar

Each asset becomes a task with an owner and a date, and appears on the shared calendar.

3

Move it through review

Statuses show whether a piece is drafting, in review, with legal, or approved.

4

See what it took

Time and cost against the campaign once it lands, so the next plan starts from something real.

Frequently asked questions

## Marketing teams _FAQ_

### Can we plan a content calendar in Orangescrum?

Yes. Each piece of content is a task with an owner and a date, and the calendar view is built from those tasks, so it cannot drift out of date the way a separate spreadsheet does. You can also work the same items on a Kanban board if your team prefers stages to dates.

### Does Orangescrum do creative proofing or asset management?

No. There is no digital asset management, and no annotation or mark up on images and video. Files attach to the work item and reviews are handled as workflow stages with comments, which covers copy and plans well. If you need frame accurate video proofing, keep a specialist tool alongside Orangescrum.

### Can we bring an agency or a freelancer in without paying more?

Yes. Every plan includes unlimited users on a flat monthly price, so there is no decision about who is worth a license. Permissions are role based per project, so an agency sees its own campaign and nothing else.

### How do we tell what a piece of content is waiting on?

Set the statuses to match your real review stages instead of a generic To do and Done. Add watchers so the people who care get notified, and use comments with mentions on the item itself so the conversation stays attached to the draft rather than sitting in an inbox.

### Can we see what a campaign cost us?

Time logging is on every plan, so hours land against the campaign as work happens. Budget and cost tracking, which turns those hours into a figure against a set budget, is on Pro and above in Cloud and is included in Self-Hosted.

### Does it send emails or schedule social posts?

No. Orangescrum is not a marketing automation platform. There is no email campaign sending, no social media scheduler, and no lead nurture. It is the plan and the workflow behind those tools, which is a different job.

### Can different teams see only their own campaigns?

Yes. Access is role based and applies per project, so a regional team, a product team, or an external agency each see their own work. An admin can still see across all of it for reporting.

### Is there a free way to try it?

There is a free 14 day trial with no credit card, and a free forever Cloud plan limited to one project and one user. There is also a free and open source Community Edition under AGPL with no user limit, though it does not include reporting, custom fields, or client access.
